This is the starting of the Ramayana story, Raja Dasharatha along with this three wives Kousalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi meet Maharshi Vashista in order to get blessings to obtain off springs.
In the above scene you can see Raja Dasharatha with folded hands praying to Vashista . He is dressed in rich robes and has ornaments on his shoulders(tola bandi) and ankle bracelet(gejje). To represent he his a King, the Royal Umbrella is present for both Dasharatha and Vashista. Also, you can find the three queens with ornaments and one of them is sitting down with folded hands.
Maharshi Vashista is found wearing a simple robe, with a danda(stick) in his left hand and with this right hand he is blessing the King and queens and is telling them to perform Putra Kaamesti Yajna. He is served by two of his assistants and even they are bearded and appear to be in simple clothes. One can also identify the Janivara(Sacred thread which is worn after Upanayana) in the three sages. |
