Description about the temple

Sri.Lakshmi Channakeshava temple at Kowsika is a unique master piece of Hoysala art. Although the exterior structure is not given much importance, but the image of Sri.Lakshmi Channakeshava is really unique.

One can observe and find that a small idol of Lakshmi is placed on the right hand top of Sri.Channakeshava. This is the only temple which I have visited so far that has this unique combination. The entire idol is beautifully carved and has great depth of detail exposed.

From Bangalore 189 kms

From DHQ Hassan 09 kms

Route :
1.Bangalore- Channarayapatna - Hassan-Kowsika.
2.Bangalore-Channarayapatna-Markuli-Kowsika.
3.Hassan-Kowsika.
4.Mysore-K R Nagar-Holenarasipura-Kowsika.

Road :
1.Bangalore-Kunigal-Channarayapatna - Hassan(NH 48)- Kowsika.
2.Bangalore-Kunigal-Channarayapatna(NH 48)-Markuli- Kowsika.
3.Hassan-Take deviation after 6kms towards left(approximate)in SH 57- Kowsika.
4.Mysore- K R Nagar- Holenarasipura(SH 57)- take diversion after 22kms(approxiate)towards right-Kowsika.

Rail :
The nearest Railway junction is at Hassan.
All passanger trains from Mysore to Hassan stops at Kowsika, also you can alight at Holenarasipura or Hassan
in express trains of same route and proceed towards Kowsika by road.
The Golden Chariot starting from Bangalore, also takes you to Hassan by train and then by road to visit Kowsika.

Airport :
Currently Bangalore International Airport is the nearest, proceeding either by road is advisable.
Once Hassan Airport becomes active, it would serve as the nearest airport.
